omg....

bonus is in so work is in too..no free lunch in the world....yesterday boss emailed out a series of house rules..this made everyone in school very angry....basically i am not affected coz so far i have been following the rules so far but still was very affected by my unhappy colleagues...i feel that boss is trying to run the school as a corporate organisation with the hierachy and all the fanfare and this does not go well with the teachers..i think ppl in the industry know this: teachers work on a very different corporate culture....they dun like to be micromanaged and need their freedom to become effective teachers..with all these rules and regulations, our wings are clipped and hence we become disgruntled...not saying that schools should not have rules..they need to have rules to function but with teachers, there need to be some leeway in between...for example, one of the rule is that lunch is strictly from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm...not coming back from lunch late..i know why boss set this rule coz some of my colleagues are quite too much..they go for lunch at 12.30 pm, come back to school at 1.45 pm and chit chat at pantry area till 2 pm before going back to the classroom to work...with this new ruling in place, the teachers are planning to fight back like this...for example, my class may end at 12.30 pm but sometimes parents are late or if the parents talk to me then i may only start my lunch at 1 pm..the question is then why should my lunch time be shorten everyday because of work? so the teachers are saying that once 12.30 pm on the dot, they will leave their kids with the admin ppl and leave for lunch on the dot...see ? this is what i mean when such strict enforcement of rules may backfire....at the end of the day parents will be upset to see that their kids are left unattended coz the teachers need their lunch and come back by 1.30 pm....like what one of my colleague aptly puts it, bosses think they own us coz they pay us our salary every month but at the end of the year, they forget that we are directly in charged of earning money for them...well i do agree with boss that some of the teachers are really too much but then it seems a little extreme to take such measures to whip them into shape.....although those new rules wont affect me but it is disheartening to see all my colleagues acting like this now....the bubble is burst! everyone used to be happy coming to work..like a big family but now when i see their faces, they are all pissed off big time...oh no..i want the happiness to come back!!
